I had to walk throughout downtown New Orleans today to drop off r茅sum茅s at various places...doing so at 94 掳 F was not only NOT fun, but the directions Google Maps gave me pretty much took THE longest routes imaginable!
It was an epic voyage, just like "The Land Before Time"....ughhhh|||Google maps also tend to invent streets that don't exist. And yes they do send you in such round-a-bout ways it's infuriating.|||Maybe it's trying to tell you that it's not smart to live or work below sea level...

Where can I find driving directions for commercial vehicles? (in NY they can use expressways but not parkways?
with Mapquest there is the option to not use any highways but that does not serve my purpose. In NY commercial vehicles can use expressways but not parkways and neither Yahoo nor Google maps seem to offer options for those kind of directions.|||I know your pain. NYC is not very forgiving to commercial vehicles when they get lost or confused. If you have a laptop. PC Miler or similar mapping software for trucks will help %26amp; using trucking common sense when looking at the maps (angles of streets hold clues if we can make the turns or not). Online, try layover.com, a trucking website with loads of information, including routing. Good luck!!|||My Father owns a trucking company in NJ and uses PC Miler.

Where can I find driving directions from San Francisco, California to Buenos Aires, Argentina?
A friend of mine is going to Argentina, and although he has already decided to fly, I thought it would be interesting to see how to get there by car. I tried both Yahoo! and Google Maps, but neither of those sites could give me directions (in fact they did not even give directions to Mexico City. Mapquest did not give an option be to put in another country.
Does anyone know of an international map website that could give directions, or does anyone know someone who has driven from North America to South America?|||It seems reasonable that you could drive if you could cross each border into the next country with your United States passport.

How do I use and work fv extenders on google for farmville?
I have already downloaded google chrome and fv extenders. But when I load my fv request page the button isn't there. What site or page should I be going to. Can someone please give me step by step directions on how to work and use the app.|||Start by opening a new Chrome window.

What is a good map website for directions and construction information?
I do alot of traveling and get hung up in a lot of construction. I am currently looking for a website that will not only provide driving directions, but would also give me the construction information I need to get to my desination the quickest way possible. What is the most accurate driving directions site?
Hi, I'm planning to drive to San Antonio Texas and have never driven over that area. I was looking at Yahoo Maps, Google Maps and even Rand Mcnally Maps, they all give different directions, some even say left or wirte or vice versa on the same steps? Which one has proved to be more reliable, or which do you use?|||Google Maps|||Google Maps, or you could just buy an Atlas.

If all hope is lost, I will go back to the way I used to do it. (Take a picture and view as image.)|||I have an iPhone without a data plan.
What I do is just find the directions in the Map app while I have wifi, and look around route in the map, zoom in on places of interest.
When I leave the WIFI area, the directions and a good amount of map data are saved in the cache. I can pull out the iPhone and look at the directions in Map app at anytime.
If I accidentally start a new map search, or change directions, it gives an error about there being no Internet connection, and my route disappears. So be careful not to do that!

Can I get directions from Goolge Maps for riding bicycles?
In the google maps , we always get the directions that tells you how to drive to some place , but i don't have a car, and i would like to know how i can get to the place by bicycle which would be better to follow than the directions for driving a car. Can anybody know how we can make the Goolge maps display the route for people who ride bicycles? Thank you very much!|||Currently Google Maps does not have that functionality, they only give driving directions. Your best bet would be to use Ask.com 's maps and select the 'walking direction' feature. This will display walking routes, which are usually accessible to bicycles as well. You may want to cross-reference this with the driving directions as many urban areas require bicycles to act as cars and only use roads instead of sidewalks, check with the local community's biking page (seach the community and 'bike' in Yahoo! or Google) to see about any local restrictions.

My house in the wrong place on google maps. How can I get that fixed?
When I google map my house, its not in the right place. the street is correct, but the location on the street is off by a couple of blocks. Its not really a problem unless someone tries to look up directions to my house using google. its correct on yahoo and mapquest.

Does the google map function on the Android Eris talk?
Ever since I've gotten my new phone, I've missed the VZ navigator the old line of phones had to offer. Now I have to deal with Google maps and it is very hard to drive and constantly check your phone to where you are going... Is there a way for the google maps to give you directions verbally from the phone like a normal GPS navigator? Why does Google Maps show a street but can't give directions to that street?
Google maps does show direcrions. You have to do is click get directions and enter in both addresses and then you have it.|||This answer was not responsive. The street shows on the map and the satellite, but clicking on "get directions" returns "cannot find" the street. In other words, the direction-finding capability has not been updated to agree with the maps/satellite.

Everytime i search for ANYTHING on google/yahoo, i get redirected to a website that has nothing to do with what i searched for, and i look at the url and it says something like floridatraffic or directsomething.

why has google maps uk changed the way it prints directions for maps|||i'm not sure, are you sure it is google who has changed, and not you, somehow changed your printer settings, or options, so that is now how you get them instead? Hope this helps.

I want to print out a set of directions and its corresponding map from Google Maps as a single page. When I try "Shrink to Fit," it shrinks but it stays as two pages. What directions are more acurate, Mapquest or Google?
Im moving from Puerto Rico to Dallas , Texas.....and yes, Im a man who ask for directions...hehe|||Map Quest has always helped me and my husband but just recently we bought a Navigator System and I can tell you that it would beat Map Quest and Google at any time cause you don't need to be driving around with a map in your hands. It's really worth it and their not that expensive mine cost $500.00 but I know that their are cheaper one. Good Luck and have a safe trip. How many times has Mapquest/Google Maps deceived you?
I'm just curious - whilst Mapquest/Google Maps provides a service, how many times have they deceived you in 1) directions 2) total mileage? Google Maps is the worst, they make you take U-turns everywhere!|||compared to when there was not such a service, I have no complaints|||Google Maps has repeatedly deceived me, three times in the past two months, I'm not using them anymore for directions.

Is there a way to control google map direction draggin?
Basically when i try to drag the path it gets very messed up! Sections of it are correct but other sections are just a path going round it self. I am wandering if i can delete portion of the path calculated by google.|||no way to fix it beyond getting a better computer and internet, either or.

So I need directions, and I am trying to find something like google maps, but i need boat directions. google maps has car, public transportation, walking, and biking directions, but no boating. Out of habit I will stick with mapquest , tho I always arrive sooner then they say .|||Google.
Print a map of your destination. That should help.|||It is probably just a different route. I would do google. The last few times I used mapquest it sent me on a lot of backroads which took much longer than the direct route would have.|||Try Yahoo maps. I used to use mapquest, but it is not always correct. Yahoo maps are easy to read, and you can see your destination before you go. Figure on traffic if it's on a major highway during commute time, and weather conditions like snow or fog if you have to choose which way to go.|||It would be a lot easier if you used the map I gave you and when you get to the airport just show your ticket to the person behind the desk.

Cars are not allowed on the El Monte Busway; why does Google Maps say otherwise?
When I asked Google Maps for directions, it said to drive a car on the El Monte Busway. This is not allowed. Why does Google Maps say to do it?|||who told cars were not allowed, they are allowed but you have be in a carpool of 3 or more passengers|||Google maps is similar to Mapquest in that they are not 100% correct. When I was a directory assistance operator for cellular calls (2000-2003), certain streets or locations where not mentioned; and when I was a delivery driver (2004-2008), I was given directions to the Compton School District but it mentioned driving through some side streets (where the gangbangers where), so it's not 100% true all of the time. Also if you do what they recommend, you'll have the Sheriff's Deputies or the Highway Patrol waiting for you at the other end!|||This might be a question better directed at Google, instead of Yahoo.

I was wondering if the travel times are accurate when I'm looking for directions in Chicago using Google. In large microwavable bowl, mix cereals, crackers, pretzels and peanuts.

How does one get their business on Google Maps?
When I Google local businesses, a Google Map comes up right away for most. I'd like the same for my own business. Does anyone know what I need to do to make that happen? My shop does have a website, of course, and lots of people Google it for directions, so having that map come up would be a help...not to mention, it would look good for the business.

What's the difference between the red colored bus numbers and the blue ones. I live in california, and the 20 is colored red, and the 1 and stuff is blue. Why cant i find directions to hogwarts on google maps?
so i was sitting in my trailer the other day and i thunk to myself dam would it be nice to be like one of them british wizard folk. i found a stick in my backyard i can use for a wand and tried to get an owl but it turns out the only way i can get one as a pet is to shoot it wit pa's 12 guage. dont matter much tho i cant seem to find hogwarts on the google maps. no sense in hitchin' if i dont have directions yall know what i mean. cant find hogsmeade either.|||You can't find those on a map because they use cloaking magic to hid them from muggles like you. You have to receive a letter from Hogwarts inviting you to the school to be able to go. If you didn't get your letter before turning 11 or shortly after, you can't go. Sorry.

If the sidebar on the left is not there, or not visible hold down Ctrl+Alt+B all at the same time. The sidebar will appear and near the top it will say 'Search'. Under that there are three tabs. 'Fly to' 'Find Businesses' and 'Directions'. Click on directions and put in the two addresses.
If, for what ever reason this doesn't work and for more options, like whether you are going by car or walking, go onto google maps.

Pick a location near to you that Google Maps does recognize and use that as your address for mapping purposes. If you're trying to use it to give someone directions to your home, then do the same but pick a recognizable landmark (gas station, convenience store) nearby and give the last few steps from there in text.|||trying just searching and put the phone number that works if not use mapquest.com|||google maps doesnt go on all streets so use a street that is more of a main road and then look for the directions from there!|||Well it might not have a satellite view of your house.

The directions are so wrong that they don't even have a clue as to where my house it. Resently someone tried to follow these and they got hopelessly lost.|||I can't even find my TOWN on Google or Yahoo let alone my house! Does Google Mobile/IPhone offer turn-by-turn directions for most US cities ? If so, why get a Garmin?

It is not turn-by-turn, but is still very useful and have many other features like local search that Garmin and TomTom do not. iPhone GPS is especially useful in USA. If you view their map and zoom out, you will see that their route does not even follow the Great Circle route from New York City to Le Havre, so the are taking their swimmers hundreds of nautical miles out of their way!|||This has been posted sooooooooooooooooooooo soooooooooooooo many times. But.. I guess that's cause it's funny!|||It was funnier when I first saw this question months ago.|||yes its getting very old now, but it is quite funny

I was wanting to get pictures of the turns you make ,when you print out directions on google maps. A pedestrian injured by a motorist while following an online route has filed a lawsuit claiming Google supplied unsafe directions.
Lauren Rosenbe used her phone in January to download directions from one end of Park City to the other. Google Maps led her to a four-lane street without footpaths that was "not reasonably safe for pedestrians," according to the lawsuit filed by the California resident.
The case has become a sensation on tech blogs, websites and cable television channels, with critics assailing the woman for ignoring her own safety to blindly follow online directions.
Does she have a case or will Google settle outside of court providing her with directions on how to kiss their @ss?

Case wouldn't take ten minutes to dismiss and have HER pay attorney's fees.

How to Thicken the path on Google Earth?
When you get directions on google earth and it outlines the path for you, how do you thicken that path? When it originally comes out it's super thin and you can barley see it.|||Scroll to the top of the "directions" pane (above "My Places" and "Layers").

How to build a text form in Flash CS4 for getting driving directions in Google Map ?
I am trying to build a form with a single line that a person can put their location "from" data and then hit the (send) button, then this data will be sent to the Google maps page that will already have the "to" data and will display the directions and rest of stuff that Google maps does.|||This is the basic format of the google maps directions link. You will have to craft the source address (saddr) part and send the whole URL to open in a new window.

If i load a KML file into google earth, can i get it to create directions for me from it?
i have a route i intend to cycle, i mapped it out, now i want directions...how do i get them? i mspped it elsewhere and loaded the KML file into google...|||You can store route infomation in a KML file, it is just a set of vectors/points which google earth can link. You just need to make sure you have exported the infomation it needs.

go to google maps and type in new york to london. when directions come up scroll down to item 23-24.

Although it was very funny, it makes me wonder if the directions are just written by whoever submits them, or if they are professionally done or at least verified before going live. It certainly would explain when the instructions are not 100% accurate. I know it's difficult to be 100% accurate all the time, especially in a Northern Climate, where all the construction is done as soon as the weather is nice enough.

I was on google maps looking for directions and they had the street name like this; Turn right at 110th St/County Rd 83. What is the / for?|||That normally means that the road has more then one name. In this case I am guessing that 110th street is also called County Rd 83.

Google earth directions or maps?
Ok. i have an old 74 chevy whos gas gauge don't work. until i do i need to have a way to see how far distances are. i ran out of gas in one spot and put two gallons in (with small gas can at that spot) and i know exactly where i drove so i would know how far i went on two gallons. so then i can plan where i go when to get gas. but i have done the directions on google earth and remember being able to change the routes but i can't. i don't need to use google earth maybe other online resources. i just want to know a directions type deal that will give me distance allowing me to change the route myself.|||http://mapquest.com

What are some good websites for driving directions, besides mapquset or google?
live maps is a good one. I would personally recommend microsoft Streets and Trips 2008 (a offline program). It is about $40. It gives you more options than any online planning site. for about $100, if you have a laptop, you can buy a gps reciver with the software. I have it. It is great!|||i like yahoo maps .....see what you think ...the directions always seem to be pretty on target

I did google directions from my city to Honolulu Hawaii, and it took me to washington state and then told me to Kayak 2756 miles across the pacific ocean to Honolulu :P The total travel time was 15 days and 21 hours.

After checking my van the guards said they get about 10 cars a day for the same reason and that google wouldn't even return their phone calls about fixing the map.

How can you correct the mistakes that google, yahoo and mapquest made on the address of our home, directions?
On entering our address to give directions to our home I discovered they have a big error. We live on road, they give directions to a small street which is called a trace; which is way wrong.
